How to get to conference venue

Stará Lesná is a picturesque village located in the heart of the High Tatras, at the foot of their majestic peaks. It lies at an altitude of approximately 780 meters and offers a unique combination of natural beauty, traditional architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. The village is an excellent starting point for exploring the Tatra region. In its vicinity are well-known tourist and recreational centers such as Tatranská Lomnica or Starý Smokovec, which provide a wide range of hiking, cycling and relaxation opportunities.

You can travel to Stará Lesná from the eastern part of Slovakia (Košice) or the western part (Bratislava) with a transfer point at Poprad-Tatry. Additionally, there is a direct railway connection from Prague (Czech Republic) to Poprad-Tatry, where you can switch to local train services operated by Slovak Railways.

By plane

The Slovak Republic has three international airports: Bratislava Airport, Košice Airport and Poprad-Tatry Airport.

Košice International Airport is located south of Košice. To travel from the airport to the main train station or the central coach station (Staničné námestie), you can use bus number 23. Details about public transport fares in Košice are available here. Since bus intervals may be long, we recommend using a taxi service for convenience. For additional information on transfers from Košice International Airport, click here.

Bratislava International Airport  is located east of Bratislava. To travel from the airport to the main train station (Hlavná stanica), use bus number 61 (or night bus N61), which runs frequently. Information about public transport fares in Bratislava is available here. Alternatively, you can use the airport's partner taxi service, Airport Service, located directly in front of the Arrivals Terminal. For more details on transfers from Bratislava International Airport, click here.

Poprad-Tatry Internation Airport  is the smallest Slovak airport, situated northwest of Poprad. It offers regular direct flights from London-Stansted and Luton. For transfers to the train station in Poprad (Železničná stanica), taxi services are available directly in front of the Arrivals Terminal. The approximate cost for a taxi to the train station is 8 €. We recommend using the airport's partner taxi service, RADIO TAXI. For direct transfers from Poprad-Tatry Airport to the conference venue, taxi fares typically range between 40 € and 50 €.

Additional nearby airports are Budapest airport,  Krakow airport and Vienna airport. The shuttle bus service from Budapest airport (CassoviaExpressEuroBusWays), Krakow airport (Unibuss) and  Vienna airport (SlovakLines) is provided directly to city centers Košice, Poprad and Bratislava, respectively.

  • From Košice: A one-way ticket costs approximately 5.50 €, and the average journey time is around 1 and a half hours.

From Poprad-Tatry to Stará Lesná, you can take a regional train operated by Slovak Railways. Tickets for these regional trains can also be purchased online.
